Tamas Rakusz started his piano studies at the age of 4. His father, who is parish choirmaster at the St. Elizabeth Parish Church – Budapest, taught him the elements of music. This knowledge served as a basis for his future studies, which included solmization and sing-analyzing skills of folk songs (Bartók-Kodály method)  he was also  trained  piano playing techniques.
     At the age of 14, he started to receive  pipe-organ lessons whereas his curriculum included  different styles and playing methods. His teachers were T. Zaszkaliczky, the organist of the city of Vac and J. Karpathy of Budapest.
     In 1976 He was admitted to the famous Bela Bartok Conservatory of Music in Budapest where
he studied with E. Viragh, a well-known teacher and artist.
      In 1978 he attended a seminar for cantors, received his diploma in 1979.
His studies included sacred music, Latin and Gregorian chants and its many variants.
His Diploma enabled him to participate in all phases of church service.
     In 1979 He left Budapest, moved to Italy-Rome, where he completed his organ studies at the famous Santa Cecilia academia.
     He gained  experience as a musician and worked as an organist in several churches.
In the early 1980s he came to New York.
Since 1987 he has been an active organist at the Hungarian Reformed Church (Manhattan) 229 East 82rd Street.
1997 was an important year, when he started working for Kalman Detrich master piano builder. At Detrich pianos he learned all aspects of  the trade. Since  2000 he has been using his vast experience, He also took on teaching organ and the piano and since then the music instruction has been going on!
